She Wants Revenge

Well hopefully I should start getting some hits now. The blog is registered with www.elbo.ws which is a music blog search engine. It also means I should probably start putting interesting things up. Well here goes...

I am aware that I risk not towing the company line here, particularly as they are playing a big gig in Millenium Square on Friday, but The Editors are rubbish. They are systematically releasing all the singles of Interpol's first album and nobody seems to have noticed. Their performance at Radio 1's big weekend was shocking - all of the songs seemed to get faster as they played. One of the bands that unites the Garage DJs is Interpol. Whilst they owe more than a passing nod of recognition to new-wave and goth bands of the 80s, their debut and follow up album were tight, moody and lacking in duff songs.

The Editors aren't the only ones to have (if I'm being generous) an Interpol influence to their sound. The Departure also seemed to appear at around the sound time and have an extremly close sound, although to my mind it was better executed that The Editors. I may well be the only person who feels this

Which brings me to (shock! new band alert!) She Wants Revenge. Well they're a new band to the UK anyway. The duo, made up of Justin Warfield on vocals and guitar, and Adam Bravin on keys and drum box, have been around since 2005 and have had a top 30 album in the US. Sounding like a hybrid of The Faint, Interpol, Jesus and Mary Chain and dare I say it, Black Rebel Motorcycle club before they started to suck really hard, SWR are best described as electro goth. Y'know, the kind of thing that Dan drops in the back room. The three vidoes will tell you all you need to know about them, and I recommend you pick up the album if only for the track I Don't Want To Fall In Love. Oh, and watch out for a guest apperance in the video from the lead singer of a certain Scottish rock band who clearly don't have anything better to do with their time...
